Heather Degrande

Assistant Professor & MSN Coordinator at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi

Dr DeGrande is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Dr. DeGrande earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science from Text Woman’s University in Denton, Texas in December of 2017. She earned her Master of Science (MSN) degree in Nursing Leadership and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) in 2006 and 2008 respectively. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Texas Tech University in 1991. Dr DeGrande is a certified critical care nurse educator (CCRN-K) from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Dr. DeGrande has taught in higher education since 2008 and at TAMU-CC since June of 2012. Dr. DeGrande is known for her passion for innovation in teaching. Dr. DeGrande’s teaching philosophy is I teach therefore I learn. Dr. DeGrande’s dissertation work was published at the international level. Currently Dr DeGrande is conducting qualitative research, state funded by the COVID-19 Just in Time Funding, and locally funded by the CONHS Research Enhancement fund. Dr. DeGrande serves as an awards reviewer for AACN and is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Nursing Scholarship, with an international audience. Dr. DeGrande also serves on the local American Heart Association’s Heart Walk Executive Planning Committee.
