Mark Thompson currently serves as the Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Texas Children's Hospital since June 2023. Prior to this role, Mark held the position of Deputy Chief of Staff, Support for US Army MEDCOM, where responsibilities included overseeing daily operations regarding personnel, logistics, and IT activities. Mark's extensive military experience includes serving as Commanding General and Chief Medical Advisor for the largest Army force deployed internationally, overseeing medical operations for over 300,000 military personnel across Europe and Africa. Throughout various leadership roles in the US Army, Mark has consistently provided strategic medical insights and directed operational activities, enhancing healthcare delivery for both military personnel and their families. Mark's academic qualifications include a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School, an MBA from Abilene Christian University, and a Master of Science in Military Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
