David J. Lewis

David J. Lewis currently serves as the Assistant Vice President for Transformative Initiatives and University Partnerships at Texas Southern University since October 2022. With extensive experience in higher education, David has held multiple roles, including Project Manager and Consultant at The Memorial Foundation since January 2021, Senior Equity Officer at the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation from October 2019 to September 2022, and Executive Consultant at Philander Smith College from September 2015 to September 2022, where responsibilities included serving as Chief of Staff and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. David’s commitment to promoting racial and economic equity is evident through work at Beloved Community as a Consulting Partner. Educational qualifications include a Master of Education in Adult and Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
