The Baltimore Banner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will bring fresh perspectives and inventive solutions to our challenges. Responsibilities:

  • Use leading frontend and backend development practices
  • Build the UI and backend API for content delivery and fast rendering
  • Understand and own the integrations with 3rd party software and service providers
  • Participate in design and architecture decision making
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers who are globally distributed
  • Work with a cross-functional team effectively in an agile environment
  • Uses JavaScript Application Framework (preferably React and Node.js) to build complete solutions for high-performance web application
  • Build scalable solutions on public cloud infrastructure (AWS – preferred)

Requirements:

  • Overall 5+ years of software development
  • 3+ years building websites and highly scalable web-applications
  • Former experience with content management systems (e.g., Arc XP CMS, WordPress, etc.) is not mandatory but highly desirable
  • Experience with JavaScript Frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.) and Node.js
  • Experience working on a distributed team
  • Experience with cloud architectures (AWS – preferred)
  • Familiarities with DBMS technology, like SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, and MySQL, and caching mechanisms such as Redis, Memcached, and Varnish

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • Overall 5+ years of software development
