Carol Hammal

Art Psychotherapist & Clinical Supervisor at The Behman Hospital

Carol Hammal is Egypt’s first trained Art Psychotherapist who is considered instrumental in developing the field of art therapy in our home country. She earned her Master’s Degree in Art Therapy & Counseling from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Her experience extends to the Red Cross in Philadelphia where she offered sessions to disaster victims as well as extensive time practiced at the Behman Hospital in Egypt, helping recovering addicts to use art therapy techniques as an elementary tool within their inpatient recovery. As she continues to develop the art therapy field in Cairo, one of her biggest aspirations she is currently working towards is to introduce Egypt’s first art therapy graduate degree to help train other Egyptians to pursue their art therapy careers.

Most recently, Mrs. Karen Pence, Second Lady of the US met with Carol to discuss the development and progress of art therapy in Egypt as part of Mrs. Pence’s global art therapy campaign “Healing with the HeART”.
