Hiroki Kotabe is a Research Analyst at The Block. Hiroki was previously an Assistant Professor of Marketing at SKK GSB Sungkyunkwan University and a Postdoctoral Scholar & Doctoral Researcher at the University of Chicago.

Kotabe's research focuses on nature vs. urban experiences in the workplace and in the field. Hiroki has developed and taught the school's first marketing research methods course to utilize R for conducting market segmentation and perceptual mapping analyses.

Kotabe has also conducted research on topics in environmental psychology, environmental neuroscience, and cognitive neuroscience. Hiroki has managed a team of undergraduate and graduate research collaborators, collected data through dozens of studies both online and offline, and prepared and analyzed the data in R and SPSS. Hiroki has also created data visualizations in R appropriate for audiences of varying levels and presented research findings to both small and large audiences, both academic and non-academic.

Hiroki Kotabe has a Ph.D. in Behavioral Science from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from the University of Chicago, an M.A. in Psychology from the University of Chicago, a Certificate in Psychology from Columbia University, and a B.A. magna cum laude in Media Studies from Temple University. Hiroki also has studied Buddhism through Autodidactic Studies.
