Job description

The Events Manager is a member of The Bowery Mission’s Development Team.  As the Events Manager, you'll play a vital role in fostering donor and volunteer relationships to secure critical resources for extending compassionate care and transforming lives. The Events Manager is responsible for establishing the annual event strategy and implementing fundraising and cultivation events that align with Development Team objectives. The Events Manager will supervise the Senior Coordinator, Events. This hybrid position involves both strategic planning and hands-on execution of events, including our flagship Thanksgiving Day outreach event.

This position is hybrid. Full-time employees work 40 hours per week with the Events Manager spending a minimum of 2-3 days per week onsite at our Tribeca and or Bowery, NY office.

Travel to other Campus Locations and event venues as needed. Weekends and evening work may be required in the weeks leading up to major events. The Events Manager must be able to work Thanksgiving week, including Thanksgiving Day. Weekly schedule is Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.

Reports to:  Director, Volunteer Services and Events

Key Responsibilities:

  • Annual Event Strategy: Collaborate with the Director of Volunteer Services & Events to develop an annual calendar aligning with Development Team objectives. Support other departments as needed in event execution.

  • Event Planning and Execution: Lead internal planning committees, provide marketing resources, manage event logistics, secure vendors, track revenue, and ensure timely reporting and monitoring.

  • Thanksgiving Event: Oversee the Mission’s Thanksgiving Day Program, coordinating with program staff, Development Team, and volunteers to create a positive experience for all involved.

  • Communications and Marketing: Guide marketing team on communication strategies, develop creative briefs, send fundraising updates, and manage event mailing processes.

  • Guest Experience and Program Development: Curate guest experiences aligned with the organization's vision and collaborate on program event development.

  • Supervision: Provide coaching and support to the Senior Events Coordinator, assign tasks, set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and identify training needs.

  • Other Responsibilities: Manage event supplies, exercise discretion in donor and personnel matters, and represent The Bowery Mission professionally and compassionately.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Embrace the organization’s Statement of Faith.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum five years of event management experience with a focus on detail.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Availability for Thanksgiving Week and occasional evenings/weekends.

  • Advanced software knowledge including Microsoft Office and databases.

  • Physical ability for event setup and occasional lifting.

  • Resourceful, organized, detail-oriented, and task-oriented.

  • Ability to work under pressure with sound judgment.

PREFERRED:

  • Proficiency in Salesforce or equivalent.

  • Adobe Creative Suite experience.

  • Non-profit or fundraising/sales experience.

Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience:$65,000 to $70,000 per year
