Austin Plymill

Austin Plymill serves as a Senior Staff Scientist at The Chemours Company since June 2021, where responsibilities include advancing new product development for highly oxygen permeable ionomers, leading R&D efforts for MEA scale-up under a Department of Defense grant, and modernizing core business laboratory functions. Prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Researcher role focused on electrochemistry, particularly NafionTM for fuel cells and water electrolyzers, at The Chemours Company. Previous positions at Northwestern University and the University of Tennessee involved electrochemical cell fabrication and studies of perovskites, alongside foundational research in nanocomposites at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Educational credentials include a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University and a BS in the same field from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
