Kathleen Rivera joined The Child Center of NY as Chief Development Officer in May 2022.

Kathleen is a highly creative and results-driven nonprofit executive with entrepreneurial passion, drive, vision, and more than 20 years of experience. She comes to us from Brooklyn Community Housing & Services, where she served as the Chief Development and Communications Officer, overseeing all fundraising and marketing. She has also served as Director of Development for the Northeast Region for CARE USA, where she co-led revenue accountability for the tri-state regional strategy and grew a major gifts portfolio. Prior to her work at CARE USA, Kathleen served as the Senior Development Officer for Children’s Rights, where she oversaw the major gift program as well as spearheaded a National Young Professional Leadership Council and secured key investments that resulted in the creation of an Atlanta headquarters office. In her native Boston, Kathleen served as a community organizer, director of outreach programs, and developed grassroots initiatives in the areas of education, financial literacy, technology and arts programming, and gender-based violence. She attended Brandeis University, where she majored in English Literature. She is an alumna of LISC Americorps (LISC) and was awarded the City Year Moccasin Award.

A Brooklyn resident for over 15 years, Kathleen resides with her two college-age children and beloved dogs Lucy and Kukla. She looks forward to leveraging her skills in pursuit of The Child Center’s mission.
