The Children's Assessment Center
Lesley Anne Mendonca is a seasoned mental health professional with extensive experience in various therapeutic settings. Currently serving as the Supervisor of Forensic Services at The Children's Assessment Center since January 2020, Lesley has a background that includes roles such as Family Advocate and Mental Health Counselor. Previous positions held include Therapist at Fuller Life Family Therapy and an Adjunct Professor at Lone Star College. Lesley's early career involved a Therapy Internship at The Children's Assessment Center and significant contributions to youth ministry within the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. Academic qualifications include a Master’s degree in Family Therapy from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Bachelor’s degree in Government from The University of Texas at Austin.
The Children's Assessment Center
The Children's Assessment Center (The CAC Houston) provides a safe haven to sexually abused children and their families; a place where they can receive the kind of care and treatment they so richly deserve. Our goal is to promote the complete healing of child victims of sexual abuse and their families. We are the Children's Advocacy Center for Houston/Harris County and we employ an extraordinarily effective multidisciplinary team approach in the prevention, assessment, investigation, referral for prosecution and treatment of child sexual abuse. Our mission is to provide a professional, compassionate and coordinated approach to the treatment of sexually abused children and their families, and to serve as an advocate for all children in our community. The CAC Houston is an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance, part of a national movement to create child-friendly intervention systems for sexually abused children, and a member of the Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas. We are also one of the largest child sexual abuse advocacy centers of its kind in the nation. As a collaborative public/private partnership of Harris County Commissioners Court and The Children’s Assessment Center Foundation, The CAC Houston represents a true partnership of the public and private sectors joining to provide the most effective service delivery to children and families.
