Eric Olson

Science Partner at The Column Group

Eric Olson is currently a Science Partner at The Column Group. Previously, they were the Senior Director of Commercial Regulatory Affairs at Genentech from October 2003 to August 2012. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of 30+ Regulatory Affairs professionals who ensured compliance with federal, state and company guidelines for promotion and advertising materials, as well as executing labels and package components. Eric also participated on Sr. Level corporate compliance and oversight committees. Prior to Genentech, Eric worked as the Chief of Staff for Representative Anna G. Eshoo from August 1996 to October 2003, where they managed and led their Silicon Valley Congresswoman’s Washington, D.C. office. This included executing a comprehensive legislative plan focusing on Energy & Commerce Committee topics such as technology, telecommunications, and biotechnology), as well supervising office communication and handling the full administrative duties of the office (hiring and supervising staff, managing taxpayer-funded budget). Some of their notable legislative successes include the House passage of Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act, E-911 and E-SIGN bills - all of which were signed into law.

Eric Olson's educational career began at Glen A. Wilson High School. Eric then attended Santa Clara University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Political Science and Government. Lastly, they participated in a Washington, DC semester program at American University.
