Reports to: Facilities Manager(s)                             Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 7am-1:30pm

Pay Rate: $20/hour

The Contemporary Austin is hiring a Custodian to maintain the cleanliness of the facilities of Laguna Gloria, our 14-acre sculpture park. The custodian will ensure that facilities are clean and safe for visitors and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine custodial duties including dusting, mopping, vacuuming
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Visitor Welcome Center, restrooms, outdoor trash cans, offices, Villa and art school studios- other areas as needed.
  • Ensure facilities are fully stocked and notify appropriate staff when supplies need to be reordered
  • Keep café tables and surrounding areas clean
  • Empty trash receptacles into the dumpster daily
  • Perform urgent cleaning as needed (e.g. bodily fluids, burst water pipes) Certification training supplied.
  • Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
  • Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
  • Take part in bi-weekly deep cleans of studios (ceramic, drawing etc.)
  • Have flexibility to change work hours and days during key event times around event needs
  • Service Jones Center location if requested for certain occasions/events

Qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining large, public spaces, classrooms
  • Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work
  • Use of multiple custodial machines: floor cleaners, shop vacs, vacuums etc.
  • Comfortable working outside in Central Texas weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to drive a golf cart
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and take directions for tasks that may change due to event coverage
