Brian Smedley has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Most recently, they served as the Chief Investment Officer at The Cynosure Group starting in 2023. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2023, they worked at Guggenheim Partners as the Chief Economist and Head of Macroeconomic and Investment Research. Brian also held the position of Head of U.S. Short Rates Research at Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2010 to 2015. Before entering the private sector, Brian worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in various roles, including Senior Trader/Analyst and Senior Economic Analyst, between 2006 and 2010. Early in their career, they interned at the U.S. Treasury Department and The White House in 2005 and 2004, respectively. In 1999, Brian served as a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Brian Smedley pursued their undergraduate education from 1998 to 2003 at Utah State University, majoring in both Finance and Economics. Brian then completed a Master's degree in International Development, with an emphasis on Economic Policy and Finance, from The George Washington University from 2003 to 2005.
