Charles Cook

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office at U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Charles Cook is currently the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Prior to this, they served as the Counterterrorism Mission Manager and Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary at DHS from January 2018 to May 2018. Charles has also held positions as the Executive Director at U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Branch Chief at the National Counterterrorism Center. Charles Cook began their career as a Border Patrol Agent with the U.S. Department of Justice in March 1998 and went on to serve as Deputy Assistant Director at the Transportation Security Administration/ Federal Air Marshal Service from November 2001 to August 2020. Most recently, they served as Deputy Marshal at the Monroe City Marshal's Office from January 1997 to March 1998.

Charles Cook has a background in management, earning their Bachelor of Science from Park University. Charles also has certifications from the Center for Application of Psychological Type (CAPT) in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Instructor and from Multi-Health Systems Inc. (MHS) in EQ-i 2.0/EQ 360 Instructor. Charles is also a graduate of the American University Key Executive Leadership Certification Program.

Charles Cook reports to Gary Rasicot, Acting Assistant Secretary, Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office. They work with and Pritesh Gandhi - Chief Medical Officer.
