Tom Valorsa

Tom Valorsa is an experienced frontend engineer with a background in web development and data visualization. Tom currently holds the position of Lead Frontend Engineer at The Dots since October 2021, where they lead the frontend development of data-driven web applications. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Frontend Engineer at The Dots from October 2020 to October 2021.

Before joining The Dots, Tom worked at Arup as a Frontend Developer from May 2017 to October 2020. In this role, they were responsible for frontend development of data-driven web applications, working on projects centered around data visualization. Tom was also involved in designing and developing end-to-end solutions from scratch. Prior to this, they served as a Developer at Arup from May 2015 to May 2017.

Tom began their career as an Administrative Assistant at MPM Financial Solutions from October 2014 to December 2014. In this role, they improved the filing system and performed client research to support lending processes. Tom also handled client correspondence and implemented digital backup systems.

Tom gained experience in teaching English and marketing while working as a Conversation Tutor and Marketing Assistant at Madrelingua School of English from October 2012 to March 2013. Additionally, Tom served as the Social Secretary at the University of Bristol Jiu-Jitsu Club from October 2011 to June 2012. In this role, they organized club events, collaborated with other social secretaries, and marketed events using print media.

Tom Valorsa has a diverse education history. In 2002, they began their education at Dulwich College, where they studied but did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. In 2010, they enrolled at the University of Bristol and pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Italian Language and Literature, completing their studies in 2014. During their time at the university, in 2013, they had the opportunity to study abroad at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna. Tom Valorsa further enhanced their educational background by attending General Assembly in 2015, where they completed a Web Development Immersive program. In addition to these formal education experiences, they obtained a Level C2 Italian - CILS certification from Università per Stranieri di Siena in 2013.
