Meili Powell, MPP has a diverse work experience spanning across various organizations and roles. Meili began their career as a Summer Camp Counselor at the YMCA of Greater Seattle in 2014. Following that, they served as a College & Career Readiness Assistant at the University of Washington Dream Project and as an Environmental Alternative Spring Break Coordinator at the University of Washington Pipeline Project. In 2015, Meili worked as a Campus Campaign Coordinator for Teach For America before taking on the role of Director of Programming at ASUW | Associated Students of the University of Washington. In 2017, they joined Shelby County Schools as an Elementary School Teacher and continued in that role until 2019. During this time, Meili also served as a Policy and Advocacy Fellow at Stand for Children, where they advocated for equitable funding for Shelby County Schools and conducted policy analysis on literacy initiatives. In 2019, they transitioned to KIPP Memphis Collegiate Schools as an Elementary School Teacher. Meili then worked as a Program Specialist at ALLMemphis, Inc. from 2020 to 2021. Currently, Meili is employed at The Education Trust, first as a Public Policy Fellow from 2021 to 2022, then as the Tennessee Advocacy & Partnerships Manager from 2022 to 2023, and currently as the Tennessee Assistant Director, Advocacy & Engagement.
Meili Powell, MPP, has an extensive education history. Meili started their academic journey at Ingraham High School from 2009 to 2013, where they pursued an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Following their high school education, Meili attended the University of Washington from 2013 to 2017. During their time there, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree, majoring in Early Childhood & Family Studies, History, with a minor in Education. Recently, Meili enrolled at Vanderbilt University, where they are currently pursuing a Masters of Public Policy with a specialization in Education Policy.
