Rob McKean

R&D Director & Board member at The Electrospinning Company

Rob is an expert in the design and fabrication of medical devices that utilize electrospinning technology. He joined TECL as R&D Director in 2010 and has been instrumental in its growth and success over the past 12 years, helping to establish the company as a leader in the field.

Rob holds a Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield and several years of post-doctoral research working in world-class electrospinning labs at the University of Sheffield and the Micro and Nanotechnology Centre, where he developed innovative 3D polymer scaffolds for a range of regenerative medicine applications. Rob is the sole inventor of patented multi-well plate technology for 3D cell-based assays that has been recognized twice for its innovation. In addition, he is the inventor of 5 patent families, solidifying his reputation as a leader in the field of medical device development. Rob is responsible for all R&D activities, driving the company’s IP strategy and partnerships with industry and academia. His wealth of knowledge, experience, and commitment to advancing the field and improving patient outcomes makes him an invaluable asset to the company and its customers.
