SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGNER

The position of Senior Electrical Designer will be part of ESCO Group’s Electrical Design and Electrical Engineering Team and will be responsible for contributing as a leading senior design resource for external client project delivery. This position requires strong knowledge of electrical theory and design concepts. 

OBJECTIVES YOU WILL MEET

As the Senior Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for providing technical services alongside a highly technical team. Objectives include:

  • Independent execution of project deliverables for projects of moderate complexity.
  • Independent design of process safety circuits of moderate complexity and moderate risk, with review by team members.
  • Provide collaborative support for acceptance testing and commissioning.
  • Self-direction, self-motivation, and ability to delegate appropriate work to Level II and Level I resources.
  • Operate as a contact for clients on design requirements for projects of moderate complexity.
  • Ability to operate independently onsite and safely perform onsite panel audits.
  • Translate existing knowledge of electrical and panel design to new platforms.
  • Utilize provided scopes of work and bid specifications to estimate design hours, needed electrical components, schedule, and timeline for medium to large-scale projects of moderate complexity.
  • Specify and generate material lists for basic networking components and media for networks such as Ethernet and Devicenet.
  • Create AutoCAD blocks from scratch as needed.
  • Participate in design reviews for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Execute project deliverables while mentoring Level I and Level II resources.

HOW YOU WILL MEET THOSE OBJECTIVES

  • Expertise in electrical design for Rockwell Platforms.

  • Proficiency in reading process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and generation of corresponding I/O and device lists.

  • Independently modify redlines when presented with complex, often ambiguous information.

  • Set expectations and timeline for design work completion and monitor delegated work.

  • Lead kick-off design meetings and design review meetings.

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal ESCO resources to ensure project success.

  • Assist in troubleshooting efforts and coordination of electrical installation for testing and commissioning.

  • Travel to client sites and perform physical duties to implement, test, and commission automation systems
