Jonathan Coates

Jonathan Coates is an experienced marketing communications and events manager currently with the European Sponsorship Association since June 2021, and serves as Communications Director for UIPM - World Pentathlon since July 2014. Coates has a strong background in corporate communications, having worked with sportscotland as Corporate Communications Project Manager from April 2016 to June 2021, focusing on innovative marketing campaigns and digital storytelling. Previous roles include Digital Content Editor and Sports Editor with the Herald & Times Group, where Coates led digital transformation initiatives and managed editorial teams. Coates began a journalism career at The Scotsman and has extensive experience covering major sporting events, including the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. An alumnus of Edinburgh Napier University, Coates holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism.
