Matthew Brewis

Director, Insurance at Financial Conduct Authority

Matthew Brewis is an experienced professional in financial regulation, currently serving as Director and Head of Department for Insurance at the Financial Conduct Authority since July 2016. In this capacity, Matthew leads the Executive Office and acts as Private Secretary to CEO Andrew Bailey, overseeing Executive Committees. Prior to this role, Matthew held various positions at the Bank of England from September 2001 to June 2016, including Senior Manager in the UK Deposit Takers Division and Manager in the International Banks Division, where responsibilities included supervising international banks and developing supervisory strategies. Matthew also supported Andrew Bailey as Private Secretary to the Deputy Governor for Prudential Regulation and worked as a Payment Systems analyst. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Social Policy from Birkbeck, University of London, and is an alumnus of Southend High School for Boys.
