Joseph T. Meyerowitz

Joseph T. Meyerowitz is a Postdoctoral Project Research Scientist at The Francis Crick Institute, working on microbial life in the DeBenedictis Group since September 2023. With a diverse background, Meyerowitz has also been an investor since 2016 and co-founded Expanse, where previous roles included CEO and COO from 2012 to 2016. Additional experience includes co-founding and advising Escape Dynamics, Inc. (2010-2015), consulting for L-3 Data Tactics on DARPA programs (2011-2013), and volunteering at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (2009-2011). As a volunteer EMT and later Crew Chief at Duke University Emergency Medical Services (2006-2009), Meyerowitz also held research positions at Medtronic and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory during various missions. Academically, Meyerowitz earned a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from Caltech (2009-2023) and a BSE in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University (2005-2009).
