Ruth Kimani has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Ruth'smost recent position was as a Senior Program Manager at The Freedom Fund, where they began working in April 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Hivos -Humanist Organisation for Social Change- as the Regional Roving Grants Coordinator for Africa from October 2017 to April 2022. Ruth also served as the Interim Voice Global Programme Manager at Hivos - Voice Programme from July 2021 to September 2021.
Ruth Kimani has a history of involvement with Hivos, starting in 2013 when they joined as a Voice Programme Officer. During their time at Hivos, they held various roles including Programme Development Manager from January 2015 to August 2016, and Programme Officer, Rights and Citizenship at Hivos, East Africa from February 2013 to December 2014.
Before their time at Hivos, Ruth Kimani worked as a Senior Program Officer at APHIAPlus Kamili, USAID, where they provided team leadership and technical support from 2012 to 2013. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Program Officer at New Partners Initiative, Scaling Up HIV Prevention Services, CDC from 2009 to 2012. Ruth also worked as a Regional Program Officer at AIDS Population Health Integrated Assistance (USAID/APHIA II Rift Valley) Project from 2007 to 2009.
Ruth Kimani's early work experience includes a role as a Youth Program Assistant at NOPE International Institute, where they contributed to responding to HIV/AIDS among youth in Kenya through various initiatives from 2005 to 2007.
Ruth Kimani completed their education history with a Postgraduate Certificate in Citizen-led Accountability from the Coady International Institute in 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Project Planning and Management from The University of Nairobi between 2011 and 2013. In 2010 to 2013, they also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Project Management from the University of Nairobi.
