John Steppe

John Steppe is an experienced journalist with a focus on sports and business reporting. Currently serving as the Iowa Hawkeyes football reporter for The Gazette since May 2020, John also contributes to the newspaper's Fact Checker team and develops in-depth business and sports articles. John participated in the Poynter-Koch Media and Journalism Fellowship from June 2021, enhancing career skills through collaboration with industry experts. Previous roles include a business reporting intern at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, executive sports editor at Marquette Wire, and various reporting positions at The Gazette and Marquette University. John holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Marquette University and has developed a diverse skill set in multimedia reporting and analysis.
