Mike Cotton

Director, Engineering & Design at The GBS Group

In his role as Director, Engineering & Design, Mike is responsible for the electrical and mechanical engineering teams as well as a group of talented designers that support all work across The GBS Group, with a primary focus on work in the Maritime Division. This support ranges from Engineering/Technical service on a variety of commercial and government maritime platforms to complete design, build, test, install, and commission projects. Mike brings over 30 years of electrical and automation design experience in both the commercial manufacturing and maritime industries where he is a recognized expert. Notable accomplishments over his career include the development of Hybrid Power Systems in the 3Kw, 60Kw and 120Kw range that were used on the battlefields of Afghanistan, designed one of the first MIL qualified VFD’s using COTS components that are now used on the new Ford Class Aircraft Carriers, and lead engineer in the design of the cable handling system used on the USNS ZESU (T-ARC 7). Mike started with GBS in 2016 and has been instrumental in growing the capabilities, capacity, and expertise at The GBS Group.
