Marlene Raasok

Chairperson at The Good Samaritan Society

Marlene Raasok is the Vice Chairperson at The Good Samaritan Society. Marlene previously worked as the Executive Dean, School of Health & Life Sciences and Community Services, at Conestoga College from September 2006 to June 2016.

Raasok was responsible for the strategic development of the School and overall operation to support College strategic directions. Marlene began with 1200 students and supported growth to 4000 students across 27 programs in nursing, health sciences, life sciences, informatics, community services, and community safety. Marlene also oversaw the development of continuing education and partner training reaching over 12,000 individual registrations.

Some of their achievements include leading the development of an innovative building for technology-enhanced and simulation learning, the Cowan Health Sciences Centre. Marlene also championed innovation in curriculum design with an I4 framework for program design and delivery, a framework for epractice to prepares graduates to optimize the use of electronic information and a new Professional Currency and Scholarship Framework for the college. In addition, they created a successful application for Canada's first Canadian Institute of Health Research-funded chair at a college, the CIHR/Schlegel Industrial Research Chair for Colleges in Seniors Care.

Raasok has also championed the development of a centre of innovation and excellence, sponsored by the school, a Collaborating Centre-Advancing Healthy Communities, which is a unique cross-disciplinary workforce and practice development hub focused on regional, provincial and national priorities related to aging

Marlene Raasok has a certificate in Meta-Leadership in Health Professions Education from SimOne in Collaboration with Harvard University. Marlene also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Management and Leadership in Education from Harvard University. Furthermore, they have a Master’s Degree in Masters of Health Services Administrion from University of Alberta. Finally, they have a Bachelor’s Degree in Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy) from University of Alberta.
