Carl J. Carano, MS, CSP, has extensive experience in risk engineering and management, currently serving as Vice President & Head of Risk Engineering at The Hartford since May 2014, where leadership encompasses a team of over 200 technical consultants. Prior roles include Vice President & Director of Risk Engineering Services at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, overseeing US Risk Engineering Operations, and Vice President & Director of Safety Management at Selective Insurance, managing safety operations across a 22-state area. Additionally, Carl held positions including Assistant Vice President of Loss Control Services at American International Group and Assistant Vice President of Underwriting at CIGNA Property & Casualty. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management from the University of New Haven and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
