Joel Porten

Joel Porten, CSP, ARM, is an experienced risk management professional with a strong background in loss control and technical management. Currently serving as Technical Manager of Specialty Programs at The Hartford since April 2019, Joel also works as a Certified Spin Instructor for Mad Dogg Athletics® and has previously held significant roles, including Director of Strategic Initiatives at Alexander & Schmidt and Vice President of Risk Control at Vela Insurance Services. Notable accomplishments include developing comprehensive loss control services and innovative assessment tools while overseeing large teams and extensive programs during a 20-year tenure at AIG, where Joel contributed significantly to both small and medium enterprises and broader risk management strategies. Joel holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University.
