Sam McIntyre

Sam McIntyre has a diverse range of work experience in the healthcare and research fields. They started their career as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Psychiatry, where they worked on a project investigating cognitive impairments in schizophrenia. They then became a Lead Researcher at Brunel University, focusing on potential risk factors for antidepressant and hypnotic/sedative drug overdoses.

After that, Sam worked at The Royal College of Psychiatrists as a Project Worker for a quality improvement program aimed at improving mental health prescribing practices. They developed audit tools, managed data, and wrote reports. They later joined the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) as a National Clinical Audit Development Associate/Officer, where they were responsible for commissioning and managing national clinical audits.

In 2011, Sam became a Project Manager at HQIP, overseeing the commissioning and performance management of national clinical audits. They also joined The Royal College of Psychiatrists again in 2019 as a Quality Manager on secondment.

Sam's career then took them to the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, where they held various roles, including Quality Manager and Head of Quality and Policy. They managed quality improvement programs, led policy development, and supported various committees.

In 2016, Sam became a Q Community Member at The Health Foundation, participating in an initiative that brings together healthcare professionals and stakeholders to improve health and care.

Most recently, Sam served as a Volunteer Vaccinator at St John Ambulance, contributing to the COVID-19 vaccination effort.

Sam McIntyre holds a Master's Degree (MSc) in Quality and Safety of Healthcare from Imperial College London, which they obtained from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Psychology from Brunel University London, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, Sam has obtained various certifications including Assistant Dive Instructor and Lifesaver Award from BSAC - British Sub-Aqua Club in 2023 and 2022 respectively. Sam has also completed courses such as Managing High Performers, Improving Your Conflict Competence, How to Be Both Assertive and Likable, and Creating a Communications Strategy through LinkedIn between 2021 and 2022. Furthermore, Sam has acquired First Aid at Work and Fire Marshal certifications from St John Ambulance in 2016.
