Laura W. Johnson-Kelly

Laura W. Johnson-Kelly has extensive experience in historical curation, education, and community engagement. Currently serving as a Trustee on the Board of The History Center in Tompkins County since December 2020, Johnson-Kelly participates in strategic planning and leads initiatives such as the revitalization of the Eight Square Schoolhouse program. Recent roles include County Historian for Tompkins County and Acting Director and Administrative/Collection Manager at Cornell University, where responsibilities encompassed curation and negotiation with a diverse team on significant collections. Previous positions include Town Historian for the Town of Ithaca and various curation roles at cultural institutions, showcasing a commitment to preserving and promoting history through educational programming. Johnson-Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology/Archaeology from Cornell University and has pursued advanced studies at the University of Michigan.
