Justin Willson currently serves as a Curator at The Icon Museum and Study Center, a position held since February 2024. Previously, Justin was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Art History Leadership at the Cleveland Museum of Art from September 2022 to February 2024, and a Lecturer/Post-graduate Research Associate at Princeton University from August 2015 to July 2022. Justin's academic achievements include earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History from Princeton University and being awarded a Dissertation Grant from the Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art & Culture, which supported research on icon collections across various American institutions. Additional fellowships and roles include a Religion and Culture Fellowship at the Center for the Study of Religion, a Liana Paredes Fellowship at Hillwood Estate, and a Fulbright Scholarship in Moscow. Prior to an academic career, Justin contributed to educational and community programs as a high school teacher and a youth club advocate in Albany, Georgia.
