Owen Barnes

Owen joined the Data School after finishing his MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Nottingham. While studying his undergraduate in Philosophy and working as a listening counsellor, a conversation with a following volunteer pushed him to learn programming, and eventually caused him to pursue data as a career path. He specifically enjoyed machine learning and data visualisation, which helped convert individual records of data into actionable insights.

After realising that Tableau offered interactive, and more interesting graphs than other visualisation tools, he downloaded Tableau and decided to apply for the Data School. He is drawn to elegant, sleek business dashboards and enjoys presenting information in a way that is accessible to all viewers, regardless of their technical experience.
