Andrew Carlsson

Director & Head of Awarding at THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BOOK-KEEPERS

Andrew Caarlsson brings a wealth of international experience to his role of Director and head of awarding at the International Association of Bookkeepers.

His career has focussed on ensuring the quality of the tuition, exams and providers in his native South Africa, where he is CEO of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. Since 2000, he has been instrumental in shaping the accessibility of bookkeeping in Africa and has driven the huge increase in providers offering bookkeeping qualifications, throughout Southern Africa.

Under Andrew’s leadership, the ICB visits providers across Africa to ensure the highest standards are maintained. In 2009 Andrew joined the council of the IAB and in 2013 used his extensive experience to visit and monitor providers in the UK.

Andrew, who was awarded an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Roehampton in 2019, brings his international experience and education rigour to the role of Director of the IAB.
