The Law Society derives its authority from the Legal Profession Act of Alberta, and is financed and maintained by Alberta lawyers at no cost to the public. Serving in the public interest, the Law Society of Alberta sets out standards through Rules and a Code of Conduct.

They work collaboratively to uphold the integrity, accountability, and ethical standards of Alberta's legal community.
