Public Defender at The Legal Aid Society

Ying-Ying Ma has extensive experience in public defense and criminal justice reform. Currently serving as a Public Defender at the Legal Aid Society since November 2014, Ying-Ying has played a pivotal role in advocating for clients' rights. Previously, Ying-Ying was a Haywood Burns Graduate Fellow at CUNY School of Law from 2011 to 2014 and worked as a Project Analyst at Common Justice within the Vera Institute of Justice from November 2008 to June 2011. Ying-Ying holds a Juris Doctor degree from the City University of New York School of Law (2011-2014) and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, with a focus on Ethnicity, Race & Migration, from Yale University (2003-2007).
