Bethany Lilly is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in public policy and law. Currently serving as a Visiting Professor of the Practice at Duke University since January 2025 and as the Executive Director of Public Policy for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since December 2022, Bethany has been actively involved in various capacities within the legal and policy sectors. Previous roles include Senior Director of Public Policy at The Arc of the United States from May 2019 to December 2022, Policy Attorney at the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law from June 2013 to May 2019, and Law Clerk at the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions in early 2013. Additional experiences include work at the Center for Medicare Advocacy as a Bridge to Practice Fellow, as well as internships at the AIDS Legal Project and Legal Aid of North Carolina. Bethany holds a Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law, earned in 2012, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from UCLA, completed in 2008.
