Vice President - Real Estate Debt Strategies at The Lightstone Group

Julian Karel has a diverse work experience history. Starting from their role as an Engineering & Management Intern at Related Companies in 2012, they progressed to roles such as Engineering & Sustainability Intern in 2013. Julian transitioned into project management and engineering as a Project Manager/Engineer at MIH SYSTEMS GROUP from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, they co-founded Barney Ford, leading marketing campaigns and sales initiatives. Julian continued to develop professionally by taking a Project Management Course at General Assembly in mid-2016. Their journey in real estate finance began in 2017 as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Cornell University. Julian engaged in real estate industry research and analysis at Hodes Weill & Associates in 2018. Julian expanded their real estate finance expertise at Madison Realty Capital as an Underwriting and Investments Summer Analyst that same year. Eventually, Julian joined Lightstone, where they held roles spanning Real Estate Debt Strategies, culminating in their current position as Vice President in that field.

Julian Karel completed their high school education at Irvington High School. Julian then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from Lehigh University. Following this, Julian pursued further education by completing a Master of Real Estate Finance from the Cornell Baker Program in Real Estate and an MBA from the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management.
