Jason Lavender

Deputy Research Director, Micor Program at The Metis Foundation

Jason Lavender, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of research and academia. Jason is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences since August 2020. Prior to this, they worked as the Deputy Research Director for the MiCOR Program at The Metis Foundation starting from August 2019.

In 2016, Jason joined the University of California, San Diego - School of Medicine as an Assistant Research Scientist in the Department of Psychiatry. Jason held this position until June 2019.

Before that, they were associated with the Sanford Center for Biobehavioral Research (formerly Neuropsychiatric Research Institute) in multiple roles. Jason worked as a Research Scientist from May 2014 to November 2016, and prior to that, they served as a T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellow from July 2011 to April 2014.

Jason Lavender, PhD completed their undergraduate education at Duke University from 2001 to 2005, where they obtained two Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Biological Anthropology & Anatomy. Following this, they pursued their passion for Clinical Psychology and earned their Ph.D. from the University at Albany, SUNY in 2011. To further enhance their knowledge and skills in the field, Dr. Lavender completed a Clinical Psychology Internship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2010 and 2011.
