Akram Boutros

Akram Boutros is the current President and Chief Executive Officer at The MetroHealth System. Akram has previously served as the Clinical Transformation Executive - Interim at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and as an advisor for Business Development & Physician Integration at Northwell Health.

Boutros was engaged by the NYS Department of Health to lead the redesign of clinical services at Brookdale following the hospital's losses of $125 million in 3 years. Akram developed and implemented a clinical transformation and hospital reorganization plan that identified $39.1 million in cost savings. Akram also guided staff restructuring and reduced OT pay by $4.3 million in six months. In addition, they redesigned the hospitalist program resulting in a length of stay reduction from 7.69 to 5.45 days in four months, leading to the closure of a 32 bed medical unit. Finally, they implemented an ED restructuring that led to shorter wait times, improved patient satisfaction and increased revenue.

Akram Boutros has an MD from State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University, a BS from St. John's University, and has completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Akram also completed an Internal Medicine Residency Program at Winthrop-University Hospital, where they served as Chief Resident.
