Kathleen P. Federico

SVP, People & Corporate Strategy Officer at MITRE

Kathleen P. Federico is senior vice president, chief people and corporate strategy officer for The MITRE Corporation. In this role she is leading and shaping the organization’s talent and people programs, strategic communications and brand, and directing the corporate strategy in alignment with the organization’s mission and vision. Federico is using her robust business expertise and many years leading people and talent programs to shape and influence the values and culture of the organization—with a focus on innovation, opportunity, and growth through the lens of inclusion and diversity.

Since she joined MITRE in 2018, Federico has applied her personal principle that people are the driving force of organizational success to transform MITRE’s brand and culture. This multi-year transformational effort focuses on delivering high impact storytelling to enhance the talent experience and promote MITRE’s technical influence and differentiation among our sponsors and partners and the communities in which we operate.

Federico is recognized for her business and strategic acumen. She has successfully led and shaped the span of human resources programs across multiple industries. Prior to joining MITRE in 2018, she was president and chief executive officer of The KDF Group, an advisory firm that provides management and leadership consulting.

Previously, Federico was chief human resources officer for The MENTOR Network, a provider of home-based health and human services. There, she oversaw a transformation of the organization’s HR enterprise, which included 150 HR professionals supporting a distributed workforce of more than 30,000 employees. Prior to working for The MENTOR Network, she held a dual role of senior vice president of sales and HR at World Travel Holdings, the world’s largest cruise agency.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Merrimack College.
