Senior Program Manager, Operations at The Movement Cooperative

Gina Cruz has a long history of working in the progressive non-profit sector. Gina began their career in 2013 as a Q-Summit Volunteer Coordinator and Intern at the University of Richmond's Office of Common Ground. In 2014, they worked as an Affordable Care Act Organizer at Brass Tactics, and as a Field Organizer for the North Carolina Democratic Coordinated Campaign - Senator Kay Hagan. In 2015, they took on the role of Regional Field Director at Aim Higher Now North Carolina, where they were responsible for hiring, training, and managing 2 field organizers, 4 paid fellows, and 2 paid interns. In 2016, Gina was the Regional Organizing Director for the North Carolina Democratic Party, where they hired, trained, and managed a team of 7 organizers and 7 DFOs in Pitt, Wilson, and Greene Counties. In 2017, they were the North Carolina Director for Progressive Turnout Project, where they were responsible for investing $100,000 into North Carolina's most competitive General Assembly races. In 2018, they were the State Director for Progressive Takeover, where they wrote, researched, and implemented a statewide field plan. In 2019, they were the State Director for NextGen America, where they wrote, researched, and implemented a statewide field plan, as well as a special election field plan for CD 9. In 2020, Gina began working as a Lead Movement Technology Strategist at The Movement Cooperative, where they built and maintained a Wiki of tools commonly used in the progressive non-profit ecosystem, hosted weekly office hours to assist TMC members with skill building and troubleshooting, facilitated trainings, and gave overviews of the tools in TMC's marketplace. Additionally, they directly supported and virtually trained TMC members in using core tools like SmartVAN and EveryAction, managed all VAN and EveryAction support requests, and co-led weekly trainings about various voter engagement tools and skills. In 2022, Gina took on the role of Data x Power Movement Tech Fellow at re:power, where they were part of a fellowship meant to support a diverse set of organizers looking to build their expertise in data and technology through a robust re:power curriculum, close mentorship, and a learning community.

Gina Cruz attended John Tyler Community College from 2010 to 2012 and earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Gina then attended the University of Richmond from 2012 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology. In 2018, they attended Re:Power (FKA: Wellstone Action) for a Data Bootcamp. In 2020, they completed the Change The Game Data Academy.
