The Naloxone Project
ABOUT THE NALOXONE PROJECT: Mission: To create a medical system & society that has no stigma, provides naloxone, and saves lives. One that is equitable & sustainable. Goal: For all hospitals, emergency departments, & first-responders to distribute naloxone to at-risk patients, placing naloxone in patients’ hands to save lives. The Naloxone Project began in Colorado in 2021. Through TNP, 99% of Emergency Departments now dispense naloxone. TNP's MOMs (Maternal Overdose Matters) Initiative, over 90% of birthing hospitals have committed to dispensing naloxone. We have been instrumental in passing two legislative bills (HB-22-1326 and HB-20-1065), which eliminate barriers to naloxone distribution and provide a pathway to reimburse hospitals for naloxone dispensing. TNP is making good on creating a medical harm reduction system that is sustainable and not grant-dependent. Through its efforts, TNP has distributed over 15,000 doses of naloxone and now has over ten state chapters outside of Colorado.
