Melissa Tran has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of arts education and museum programs. Melissa began their career as a Teaching Assistant at Southern Methodist University, where they supported various art programs and assisted in the coordination of digital media courses. Melissa later worked as an Adjunct Professor at DCCCD, teaching art appreciation and photography. Melissa also held roles at the Dallas Contemporary, where they served as the Visitor Services/Volunteer Coordinator and facilitated the Art Think outreach program. Melissa further expanded their experience by working at the Long Beach Museum of Art, the Torrance Art Museum, and the MOCA | The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, where they developed and implemented educational programs for diverse audiences. Melissa'sroles at MOLAA | The Museum of Latin American Art included managing school and family programs and supporting education activities. Melissa's most recent positions include being a Moderator for The New York Times Learning Network's educational resource and currently serving as the Assistant Director of Distance Learning at The National WWII Museum, where they lead the creation and management of online learning experiences for national K-12 audiences. Throughout their career, Melissa has demonstrated strong leadership skills, program development expertise, and a commitment to providing accessible and engaging educational opportunities in the arts.
Melissa Tran completed their education with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Photography/Digital Media and Art History from the University of Houston, where they studied from 2007 to 2012. Melissa then pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Interdisciplinary Studio Arts from Southern Methodist University, where they studied from 2012 to 2014.
