Jonathan Malamy

Director Of Spiritual Care at The New Jewish Home

Jonathan Malamy has a diverse work experience in the field of spiritual care and religious life. Jonathan started their career as a Rabbi at Congregation B'nai Vail in 2000 and later served as the Interim Education Director at Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation from 2002 to 2003. In 2005, they worked as a Hospice Chaplain at Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter. Jonathan then joined Solomon Schechter School of Westchester in 2007 as a Judaic Studies Teacher and moved on to become the Director of Spiritual Care & Religious Life at The New Jewish Home in 2008. Jonathan held this role until January 2020 and then became the Director of Meaningful Life until November 2023, before assuming the position of Director of Spiritual Care in January 2023. Recently, they have joined Mishkan Ha'am as a Rabbi in July 2023.

Jonathan Malamy completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Religious Studies at Grinnell College from 1989 to 1993. Jonathan then pursued a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northwestern University from 2003 to 2005. From 1995 to 2000, they attended the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, where they obtained a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letter. Currently, Jonathan is working towards becoming an ACPE Certified Educator at ACPE: The Standard in Spiritual Cate, where they have been studying since 2018.
