Yasmine Al-Sayyad is an experienced professional in fact-checking and research, currently serving as the deputy head of fact-checking at The New Yorker since December 2015, where responsibilities include co-managing a department of 30 checkers, scheduling, and interviewing new personnel while ensuring timely article verifications. Al-Sayyad has contributed to several award-winning stories through meticulous fact-checking and additional reporting. Previous roles include conducting Arabic language research for ABC News, serving as a researcher for UNDP, and coordinating legal and corporate affairs for Microsoft in the Middle East and Africa. Al-Sayyad holds a Master of Arts in Near Eastern Studies/Journalism from New York University and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
