Andrea Capurro

Andrea Capurro has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental protection and management. Andrea has held positions such as Chief of Program Staff at The Ocean Foundation, MPA Advisor and Editorial Board Member at Agenda Antartica - NGO, Biodiversity Conservation, Climate and Ocean Policy Advisor at Independent, and Environmental Science Communication Coordinator at Spirit Agencia Creativa. Andrea also worked as a Visiting Research Fellow at Boston University - Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, where they focused on marine protected area designation and science-policy collaborations. Prior to that, they served as an Environmental Protection and Management Advisor at Dirección Nacional del Antártico - Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as an Ocean Conservation and Policy Advisor at Instituto Antártico Argentino/Dirección Nacional del Antártico/Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Andrea has also worked in roles such as Science Communication Leader at Proyecto Experience, Advisor on statistic and biostatistic at Bayer Crop Science, and Marine Mammal Researcher at Fundacion Marybio.

Andrea Capurro completed a Master's degree in Environmental Management from the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires from 2012 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Licentiate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires from 2003 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, Andrea also holds several certifications. These include the Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training Certificate including Helicopter Underwater Evacuation Exercise Training from the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization (UK), the Marine Mammals Observer certification from the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, the Offshore Medical Certificate from the Oil and Gas UK Medical Guideline (UKOOA), and the Protected Species Observer certification, also from the Joint Nature Conservation Committee. These certifications were obtained in March 2009.
