Aly Verjee

Aly Verjee became the Academy’s Chair of Governors in September 2021. He is a non-resident senior advisor at the United States Institute of Peace, where he supports mediation and research efforts in conflict-affected contexts. He has 20 years of experience in the voluntary and public sector, including assignments as chief of staff of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission and as senior advisor to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development mediation process for South Sudan. He received the 2019 Oslo Forum PeaceWriter Prize “for bold and innovative responses to today’s peacemaking challenges.” Aly became a governor on 17th March 2021.
