Shontey Wells has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. In 2019, they worked as a Project Management Assistant at The Port of Virginia. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2019, they held the position of Branch Manager at Community Loans of America. From 2014 to 2016, they served as an Assistant Operations Manager at ChenMed. At GEICO, from 2012 to 2014, they worked as a Claims Representative II. Before that, from 2011 to 2012, they were a Member Operations Rep I at Virginia Premier where they provided customer service and educated members on available services/resources. In 2012, they also volunteered at Community Based Corrections.

Shontey Wells received an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree in Social Sciences from Tidewater Community College, which they attended from 2006 to 2009. From 2009 to 2012, Shontey pursued their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Criminal Justice/Sociology, majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology, at Old Dominion University. Shontey then continued their education at Saint Leo University, earning a Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice, and Social Science, which they completed from 2012 to 2014. Shontey furthered their education by pursuing a Master's degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance at Stratford University from 2014 to 2016. In terms of certifications, Shontey obtained the Transportation Worker Identification Credential from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in January 2019. Shontey also obtained certifications in Comptia Security+ and Security+Ce from Freewater Technologies and CompTIA in March 2018.
