Bernadette Merlino

Bernadette Merlino is Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS), Vice President of Queen’s Clinically Integrated Physician Network, and President of Queen’s Development Corporation, the for-profit division of QHS. In these roles, she is responsible for the strategic growth and development of both non-profit and for-profit outpatient and ambulatory services across the health system.

Ms. Merlino worked at QHS for nearly 20 years before departing for the mainland in 2005. During her previous tenure, she served as the Vice President of Patient Care, overseeing several clinical service lines including oncology, cardiology and women’s health.

In 2005, Ms. Merlino left QHS to join Huntington Memorial Hospital, a 522-bed teaching hospital that is affiliated with University of Southern California in Pasadena. While at Huntington, she served as Vice President of Clinical Support as well as Vice President of Clinical Strategy and Physician Development before becoming Vice President of Ambulatory Services. In that role, Ms. Merlino oversaw oncology, cardiovascular services, neurosciences, pharmacy, rehabilitation and occupational medicine, pathology and palliative care. She also led the development of the 190,000 square foot Huntington Outpatient Pavilion in addition to developing the strategy and organization of Huntington’s outpatient services, which included joint ventures in imaging and surgery.

In October 2015, Ms. Merlino returned to QHS.

Ms. Merlino grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Boston University and an MBA from the University of San Francisco.
