Alex S. Portillo

Undergraduate Research Assistant at The Research Foundation for SUNY

Alex S. Portillo is currently an Undergraduate Research Assistant at The Research Foundation for SUNY, where involvement includes experimental condensed matter physics research under the GENESIS Energy Frontier Research Center, funded by the Department of Energy. Key responsibilities encompass the synthesis of 3d transition metal oxides and orthophosphates, along with sample characterization using powder x-ray diffraction and UV/Vis spectroscopy. Additionally, Alex S. Portillo has recently served as a Research Development Laboratory Technician in the Business Continuity Lab at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Academic pursuits include a Bachelor's degree at Stony Brook University, expected in December 2026, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Farmingdale State College, completed in December 2023. Prior education includes an Advanced NY Regents Diploma from Walter G O'Connell Copiague High School, obtained in 2019.
