As President of Retina Service for RGW, one of the largest and most highly respected retinal and macular practices in the country, Richard is responsible for providing overall strategic leadership and management for the practice. Richard works closely with the RGW Board of Directors, other management teams, and functional sub-committees to establish long-range financial and clinical goals, strategies, plans and policies. He is committed to promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Richard’s career has spanned almost four decades where, prior to RGW, he was promoted to a series of increasingly responsible positions over a 10-year period at UnitedHealthcare (UHC). At UHC, he was initially the Chief Financial Officer of their Mid-Atlantic health plans, then promoted to Senior Vice President of their Provider Networks.
Prior to joining UHC, Richard was Chief Financial Officer at a dental HMO. That position was preceded by a 15-year period with a venture capital firm specializing in telecommunications and technology, during which Richard held various executive financial positions. Richard was with Ernst & Young until 1983.
Richard received a Bachelor of Science (Dual Major Curriculum - Accounting and Finance) from La Salle University and a Master of Taxation from Villanova University School of Law.
